Highlights from our Bold Girls Society at KIPP DC

The Bold Girls Society program is the flagship program of our partnership with Kipp College Prep Academy here in Washington, DC. Open to girls in grades 9-11, our comprehensive approach to whole girl development equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. The girls talk about issues that are important to them and explore ways to navigate obstacles in safe, caring environments. This school year to-date, the girls have had the opportunity to see the movie, Woman King; go trick or treating at the White House and attend the L'Oreal Women in Science Award ceremony at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library in downtown DC.

[My daughter] is new to KCP high school. She is a 10th grader and had no friends. She cried a lot and wanted to transfer. After joining Girls Inc. DC, I am overjoyed. Girls Inc. DC gave her the opportunity to make friends and build trusting relationships. She’s very happy and excited to be a part of the Bold Girls Society as it’s opening up new doors for her.
